The Meaning of Sea Shells
“Keep close to nature’s heart, wash your spirit clear.”
~ John Muir
So what exactly is sea glass and how is it made?
I have always lived near a sea or ocean and have always loved it. From spending weekends on the Gulf of Thailand when we lived in Bangkok, to St. Simons Island, Georgia to the Cocoa Beach area…we even spend our vacations diving and boating on the ocean off of Key Largo. Most of us feel rejuvenated when we spend time in the energy of the sea. That’s because the ocean has natural healing properties with its vibrational power and magnitude. The sea, sand, and air around the ocean has natural cleansing ability. The beach which you walk on and the salt within the air, all have purifying properties, removing negative energy and emotions to help heal. Not to mention the rhythmic crashing of the waves and rippling water is mesmerizing and can put us in a relaxed state of mind.
Seashells are a physical part of the Ocean and have been born within its depths, so they are very special and unique. They are beautiful to hold with their vibration having a crucial role in healing our planet, mother earth. Next time you see a shell, hold it for a while and see how it ‘speaks’ to you with its energy. These gifts from the sea have exceptional healing powers for us as well.
Hawaiian Mystics, called The Kahuna, were among the first people to use seashells as a system of healing. The Hawaiians believe that the mind, body and soul of a person are all interlinked and that the physical body can not be healed without healing the spirit of the person. And seashells are a big part of that. The shapes of shells are believed to be important as well. Where shells in the shape of a spiral tend to create change and increase energy, shells with radiant lines, such as scallops, help more with clearing energy blockages.
Seashells have the natural ability to disperse negative energy due to the ocean’s concentration of sea salt. Shells have a protective base in which negativity finds hard to penetrate. Shells can harness and enhance Reiki healing with their size, shape and structure. Seashells have gentle but thorough healing energy which works with the healer to cleanse, balance and harmonize chakras and the aura. With the aid of the shells and sea we can heal and regenerate ourselves.
